Tree cabling

Tree cabling

There are many reasons why a tree may need support. The best known is when you plant a tree that is of a size that you can appreciate. You may have noticed that you often put a stake near a newly planted tree and attach the tree to that stake. This gives the tree stability while it is rooting in the ground. The tree will be protected in case of strong winds or if someone inadvertently hooks it. Be aware that there are several other reasons why cables are used to give support to the tree. We will explore one together.

Problem of structure

In urban areas, trees do not grow in the same conditions as in the forest. For example, trees in cities have very little competition unlike trees that grow in rural areas. This means that they very often have access to all the sunlight at all times. Sometimes this can cause an imbalance in the structure of the tree. One of the problems encountered is that the head of the tree is much too large in relation to its base. By combining well-planned pruning with the guying technique, we are usually able to correct this type of structural problem.

Branches weakened as a result of a storm

Trees in the city are not surrounded by other trees as is the case in the forest. They are therefore more at risk of being damaged during a storm. This is why trees in the city are often damaged during a storm. The first reflex is to cut down the tree that has been weakened. Before making such a decision, call us at 819-200-2925 and we will evaluate with you if it is possible to save the tree's life by guying it down.

Multi-trunk trees

Multi-trunk trees represent a real danger to the safety of citizens and buildings. Each section of a multi-trunk tree is in competition with the other trunks. As the trunk and its branches move away from the center, the risk of the trunk breaking increases. It is suggested that you look carefully at the junction of the trunks to make sure there are no cracks. A crack is an invitation for insects and diseases to settle. This of course further increases the risk of a log breaking.

Cracked trunk

If you discover that the trunk of your tree is cracked, call a tree care company immediately for advice. At Emondage Sherbrooke Pro, we have the knowledge and experience necessary to assess the risks posed by a tree with a cracked trunk. We will assess the situation to see if it is possible to prune and use the guying technique to prevent the tree from being cut down.

Low branches

As you have probably noticed, the base branches are usually the largest. As the years go by, the upper part will take up more and more space and thus deprive the lower branches of light. This means that the branches in the lower section of the tree will tend to grow sideways in order to gain access to sunlight. Professional guying allows in almost all cases to support the lower branches without having to cut them down.

Free evaluation

If you notice anything abnormal about your trees, don't take any chances and call 819-200-2925. We will send a professional to assess the situation free of charge.
